Fellowships are available in the following areas of urologic sub-specialization:

Minimally Invasive Urology Laparoscopic/ Robotic surgery Fellowship & Society of Urologic Oncology Fellowship

The Fellowship program is part of the Department of Surgery, Section of Urology at the University of Chicago.

Officially commencing in July, 2003 with the first fellow Gary Chien, MD , the Endourology fellowship has grown dramatically. Dr. Gary Chien is now the Director of the Endourological Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in California.  Currently, 2 fellows are trained annually with large surgical volume, animal based research and prospective clinical database outcomes research. Initially a 1-year Society of Endourology fellowship certified program, the current fellowship is a 2-year commitment. As of the 2009 academic year, all Endourology fellows will need to complete a 2-year program in order to be certified by the society.
Since July 2007, our minimally invasive uro-oncology team has been approved by the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) to train 1 fellow per year with a 2 year commitment. Both clinical and bench research are required for certification.
